You have to use the driver for 256-color in windows.
Run Windows Install from inside windows and fix the display driver to 256-color and with right size (e.g 640x480 or 600x800)
You must have a graphic-card that suport 256-color in this size!

You can try wsmtpd16 by Ian Blenke. Its a winsock smtp daemon. I can't say
how it will act in standard mode, worth a try though. Should be available in
wsmtpd16.zip at your favorite winsock site. (CICA or mirrors).

I second that. What is the procedure of setting up new newsgroup, anyway?

WinVN can post (and decode) MIME multi-part attachments (base64
or uuencoded). It doesn't know about richtext, etc...

Not _quite_ true. A library is being developed that can be used as the
base for a newsreader. It's designed in such a way as to make offline
capability relatively easy to implement.

WinVN does support threading. It's turned off by default.
Look under the Misc... menu for the 'Compute Threads' option.

Mosaic is a free software package created by the National Center for Supercomputing
Activity in Indiana. It is what is generically known as a World-Wide-Web (WWW)
browser. WWW is a "network" of servers that provide documents, images, sound clips,
files (via FTP), movies and so on, using a platform independent protocol known
as Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). You can even read newsgroups, but you can't
post to them.
Mosaic allows simple retrieval of all these items by simply clicking on an
icon or highlighted text. The links are built into the document, so the user
does not need to know anything at all about IP addressing or the Internet.
Mosaic is available for Unix (X-Windows), Macintosh and MS Windows. It can be
downloaded via anonymous FTP from FTP.NCSA.UIUC.EDU. The Windows version (which
I am most familiar with) is now in alpha test of release 2.0. It has recently
been rewritten to run under Windows NT. It can still be run in Windows 3.1 by
using Win32S, a free interface, provided by Microsoft, that allows 32 bit WinNT apps
to run on 16-bit Windows 3.1.
The windows version also requires a Winsock 1.1 compliant TCP/IP stack. Microsoft's
IP stack (the one I have used is supplied as part of LAN Manager), can be
upgraded to Winsock 1.1 with a free download from ftp.microsoft.com. FTP Software
Inc.'s PC/TCP (version 2.2 and later) is already Winsock compliant. The stack that
is included with WinNT is compliant, as is the one for Windows for Workgroups that
has received so much interest in this and other newsgroups. The Trumpet (shareware)
stack from Peter Tatum (available from fine FTP sites everywhere!) is also Winsock
compliant.
